Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 October 2026
This policy explains what Ariam Labs, Inc. does with information about you when you use Obelus or visit ariamlabs.com.
1. The short version
- Your projects, your media and the descriptions Obelus makes of your images stay on your computer. Two things you do send: a cloud run, and a question to the Art Director.
- We hold a small account record, a record of what you have run in the cloud, and a record of which models you have downloaded.
- We do not hold your card details. Stripe, which sells you your plan, does.
- When you run a node that cannot run on your computer, or ask the Art Director something, what that needs goes to the supplier that does the work.
- Crash reporting is switched on by default, with file paths scrambled before anything leaves your computer. One switch in Settings turns it off.
- We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not use your work to train models.
- Section 8 says what kinds of companies we use and where they process information.
2. Who we are
Ariam Labs, Inc. is a Tennessee corporation and is the controller of the personal information described here.
Ariam Labs, Inc. 4935 Main St Ste 7-154 Spring Hill, TN 37174 United States privacy@ariamlabs.com
3. What stays on your computer
Obelus is a desktop application. The following stays on your computer unless you ask Obelus to send it, by running a cloud node or by asking the Art Director something:
- Your projects, your imported media, your exports and your caches.
- The descriptions Obelus makes of the images you import. When this is switched on, Obelus reads your imported images on your own machine and writes a short description of each one, so that you can find them later by what is in them. The pictures are not sent anywhere to do it. If you ask the Art Director a question, a description can be part of what Obelus sends it, as section 7.1 explains. You can turn the whole thing off in Settings, General.
- Your settings, your model files, and the record of which version of our terms and this policy you accepted, and when.
We have no copy of these and cannot recover them for you.
4. What we collect, and where it comes from
4.1 Your account
Sign in is run for us by our sign in supplier. It holds your email address, your name if you gave one, and the times you signed in, so that it can sign you in. We hold an account identifier from it, together with your plan, your subscription status, and your allowance balance.
4.2 Your payment
We do not take your payment and we never see your card. Your plan is sold to you by Stripe, as the Merchant of Record, unless the checkout names a different company. That company collects your billing details, charges you, handles tax, and keeps the transaction record. It sends us notices about your purchase so that we can apply your plan: which plan you have, whether a payment succeeded, when the plan renews or ends, and any refund. A notice can also carry billing details such as your name, your email address and your billing address. We keep these notices as our record of the sale.
4.3 Cloud runs
When you run a node that executes on a supplier's computers, Obelus sends the request through our server to that supplier. We keep a record of the run: your account, the time, which model was used, how much of your allowance it consumed, and technical details such as the kind of node and the version of Obelus. We do not keep the content of the run. Your prompt, your image, your audio or your video passes through and is not stored by us afterwards. Section 7 says more.
4.4 Model downloads
When you download a model, our server checks that your plan covers it and then lets the download go ahead. We record which models your account has downloaded, to run the download service and pay for it.
4.5 Crash reports
See section 6.
4.6 When you write to us
If you email support or privacy, we keep the message, your address, and our reply, so that we can answer you and so that we have a record of what was asked.
4.7 Our servers
Our servers keep operational records, such as the run records in section 4.3 and the download records in section 4.4, to keep the service working and to find abuse. We and our suppliers receive the internet address each request comes from, because that is needed to deliver it and to keep the service secure.
4.8 The website
ariamlabs.com has no advertising and no tracking cookies, and we do not let other companies collect information about what you do across websites through it. If you write to us from the site, we keep your email address so that we can reply and, if you asked to hear from us, write to you later. Ask us to remove it and we will.
Because we do not track you across websites, a browser's Do Not Track signal has nothing to change, and we do not respond to one.
4.9 What you have to give us
To have an account you have to give us an email address, because that is how you sign in and how we reach you. Without it there is no account and no way to use Obelus. Everything else is optional: you do not have to give us your name, and you can turn crash reporting off. The Merchant of Record needs a payment method to sell you a plan, and that is a requirement of the sale rather than of this policy.
5. Why we use it, and our legal basis
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, these are our lawful bases under the GDPR and the UK GDPR.
| What we do | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Run your account, sign you in, apply your plan | To give you what you paid for | Performance of a contract |
| Meter cloud runs and allowances, run cloud runs and Art Director questions | Same | Performance of a contract |
| Allow model downloads and record them | Same, and to run our download service | Performance of a contract, and our legitimate interest in running our download service |
| Answer your support messages | To help you | Performance of a contract, and our legitimate interest in supporting our product |
| Crash reports | To find and fix the faults that break Obelus | Our legitimate interest in a product that works. For UK users, this is done solely for statistical purposes in order to improve the service |
| Server records, rate limits, abuse detection | To keep the service up and to stop misuse | Our legitimate interest in security |
| Keep records of what you paid | For tax and accounting | Legal obligation, and our legitimate interest in keeping records |
| Tell you about a change to these documents, an outage, or a model going away | Because you need to know | Performance of a contract |
| Send you news about Obelus that you asked for | Because you asked | Consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
We do not make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
6. Crash reports
What a report contains. When Obelus crashes it can send a report saying what went wrong and where in the application it happened, with technical details about Obelus and your Mac. File paths are scrambled on your own computer before a report is sent.
It is on by default. You can turn it off with one switch, at Settings, Account and Privacy. The switch is free, takes one click, and takes effect the next time Obelus starts. Turning it off stops every report. If you would rather not send anything at all, turn it off before you do any work you care about.
Where the reports go. To us, through our crash reporting supplier.
If you are in the European Economic Area. We rely on our legitimate interest in keeping Obelus working, and you may object at any time. The switch described above is that objection, and it needs no reason and no email.
If you are in the United Kingdom. Crash reports are collected solely for statistical purposes in order to improve Obelus. We are telling you clearly what they are for, we give you a simple and free way to object, and we do not share them with anybody except our crash reporting supplier, and then only to help us improve Obelus.
7. Cloud runs and what reaches a supplier
Some models cannot run on your computer. When you run one, what that node needs travels through our server to the supplier that performs the run, and the result comes back to you. Depending on the node, that can be your text prompt, an image, an audio recording or a video clip. If any of that contains personal information, whether yours or somebody else's, it reaches the supplier, which receives what it needs to perform the run.
Two things to know before you send us somebody else's personal information. First, if you send a photograph, a voice recording or a video of a real person to a cloud node, you are responsible for having the right to do so. Second, a node that runs on your own computer does not send your work to us or to a supplier, and is always the safer choice for material you cannot share.
7.1 The Art Director
The Art Director is a chat inside Obelus that can read your project and suggest changes to it. It runs on a model from one of our model suppliers, not on your computer. When you send it a message, Obelus sends that message, the earlier messages in the same conversation, and the context it needs to answer through our server to the supplier. That context can include the names and settings of your nodes and files, a transcript or description Obelus has made, an image from your project, and what the Art Director reads from your open project in order to answer. If Obelus offers you a setting that lets the Art Director see what you are working on as you work, it is off until you turn it on, and while it is on, what you are looking at in the open project can be part of what is sent. Obelus never sends a setting or field that holds a key, a token, a password or a card number, and it does not send items you mark private. What you type into names, notes and prompts is sent as written when the Art Director reads your project, so keep secrets out of them.
We keep a record that a turn happened and what it cost your allowance. We keep the Art Director's reply for up to seven days, so that Obelus can recover it if the connection drops, and then delete it. We do not keep your messages.
If you would rather send nothing, do not use the Art Director. Everything else in Obelus works without it.
8. Who processes information for us
We use other companies to run Obelus. They receive personal information to do their job for us.
| Kind of company | What it does for us |
|---|---|
| Hosting and infrastructure | Runs our servers, which sign runs in, route and meter them, and holds the files for model downloads |
| Content delivery and security | Serves our website, our domain names and model downloads, and protects them from attack |
| Sign in | Signs you in and holds your account identity |
| Model and generation suppliers | Perform cloud runs and answer the Art Director. The company that owns a model can be different from the one that runs it |
| Update delivery | Delivers Obelus updates to your computer |
| Crash reporting | Receives crash reports, when they are sent |
| Runs the mailbox that receives what you send to our addresses |
Where they process it. These companies process information in the United States and the European Union. Content delivery happens close to wherever you are, and a model supplier may perform a cloud run in another country.
The company that sells you your plan. Stripe, as the Merchant of Record, is not our supplier. It is the seller and is responsible for the billing information it collects for the sale.
9. Sending information out of Europe and the United Kingdom
We are in the United States, and information about you is processed in the countries described in section 8. When personal information about somebody in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland goes to a country that does not have an adequacy decision, we rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, with the UK addendum where needed, or on the recipient's certification under the EU to US Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions. You can ask for a copy of the safeguards at privacy@ariamlabs.com.
10. How long we keep things
We keep personal information for as long as we need it to provide Obelus and to meet our legal duties, including tax and accounting law and any claim that has been made. Two things are different:
- The Art Director's replies are kept for up to seven days and then deleted.
- The record of which terms you accepted is kept on your computer, not by us.
11. Who else sees it
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross context behavioural advertising.
We disclose personal information only to:
- the companies described in section 8, to do the jobs they do for us;
- the Merchant of Record, so it can sell you a plan and support the sale;
- professional advisers who owe us duties of confidence, when we need advice;
- somebody who acquires our business or its assets; and
- a court, a regulator or law enforcement, where we are legally required to.
12. Your rights
12.1 Everybody
Deleting your account. Use Delete account in Settings, which opens a message to our support address, or write to privacy@ariamlabs.com. We will check that the request really comes from you, close the account, and delete the personal information we hold about you, except what we need to keep to meet our legal duties. Your projects and your media are on your own computer and only you can delete those.
A copy of what is on your computer. Export My Data, in Settings, gives you a copy of the data Obelus keeps on your computer.
Other rights. Where the law where you live gives you rights over your personal information, write to privacy@ariamlabs.com to use them.
12.2 If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland
You have the right to ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you and a copy of it, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict how we use it, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw a consent you gave us at any time. Withdrawing consent does not undo anything we lawfully did before you withdrew it. Write to privacy@ariamlabs.com. We do not charge for this.
You have the right to object to any processing we do on the basis of a legitimate interest, including crash reports and our operational records. Say so and we will stop unless we have compelling grounds that override yours.
You may complain to a supervisory authority. In the United Kingdom that is the Information Commissioner's Office, ico.org.uk. In the European Economic Area it is the authority for the country where you live or work. In Switzerland it is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, edoeb.admin.ch.
12.3 If you are in the United States
If the privacy law of your state applies to us, you have the rights it gives you. Write to privacy@ariamlabs.com to use them. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross context behavioural advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of.
13. Children
Obelus is a professional tool for adults. We do not offer it to children, we do not knowingly collect personal information from anybody under 18, and if we learn that we have, we will delete it. If you believe a child has given us information, write to privacy@ariamlabs.com.
14. Security
We protect what we hold with reasonable measures. Obelus talks to our servers over encrypted connections, and the product is built so that your work stays on your computer. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information and the law requires us to tell you, we will.
15. Changes to this policy
We will post any new version here with a new date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your personal information, we will tell account holders by email or in the application before it takes effect, and where the law requires your consent we will ask for it.
